What is your role? Describe what you do briefly.
I’m the Global Senior Events Marketing Manager at SpotDraft, leading a team of two. Events play a critical role in our go-to-market strategy, with 65-70 events a year aimed at establishing our brand globally. My focus is on positioning SpotDraft as a thought leader in key markets like the US and APAC while driving entry into new regions like EMEA.
Growing up, what were your passions or interests? How did you venture into your current field?
From a young age, I knew I didn’t want to follow a conventional career path. Initially, I pursued a degree in Product Design but realized after four years that it wasn’t my passion. This led me to a master’s in Event Design and Experience, despite doubts from others about its viability as a career. Today, with B2B companies increasingly prioritizing events in their strategy, it’s exciting to see this field gaining recognition and impact.
What inherent qualities help you thrive in your everyday role?
Building strong relationships has always been one of my strengths. It is invaluable for collaborating across teams. Another quality I rely on is my organization skills. I believe event planners need to be the most organized people in the room, and I have had that trait since childhood.
Is SpotDraft a high-performance environment? How do you unwind and find balance?
Absolutely! SpotDraft is a team of high achievers, and it was initially intimidating to see how everyone excelled in their fields. Even with our headcount doubling since I joined 2.5 years ago, the quality of hiring remains unmatched.
To unwind, I paint, my home is like an art gallery with little wall space left! I also prioritize fitness, hitting the gym six days a week and playing badminton every weekend. For me, balance starts with health; everything else follows.
How did you plan your growth at SpotDraft?
As the first events hire, I had the unique opportunity to build the function from scratch. For two years, I worked as a single-member team, which taught me to create sustainable systems and processes. This experience accelerated my growth, and now, with an expanded team, I continue to refine and scale our events strategy.
What sets SpotDraft apart from other places you’ve worked?
One standout feature of SpotDraft is that age and experience aren’t barriers to responsibility. If you prove your capabilities, you’re trusted with impactful roles. Another unique aspect? We’re pet-friendly! I love when people bring their fur babies to work, it is genuinely therapeutic and adds a special warmth to the office.
What advice would you give to someone starting in the events team?
It’s natural to feel intimidated in a new role, but don’t hold back: find your voice. At SpotDraft, every opinion is valued, and the environment is incredibly supportive. It’s a fantastic place to kickstart your career, with endless opportunities to grow and experiment.
Having been at SpotDraft for a few years, how have you seen the company evolve? What cultural changes would you embrace or sustain?
When I joined as the 65th employee, we operated out of a single office floor. Today, with over 250 people, it’s incredible to see how much we’ve grown, not just in size but in our processes and culture.
What I love most is SpotDraft’s openness to new ideas and its inclusive culture. Everyone has a voice, regardless of their role, and that’s something I hope we sustain as we scale further. The emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement has been key to our success and will continue to drive us forward.
