What is your role? Describe what you do briefly.
I'm working as an Associate Manager in the Legal Operations team at SpotDraft. My primary responsibility involves managing and driving a range of projects, from democratization and historical migration to paralegal services. This includes creating customized templates for customers, importing legacy contracts into the platform, extracting key information in a user-friendly format, and assisting with the initial stages of contract review and negotiation.
Additionally, I work on implementing new processes to streamline team operations and optimize existing workflows. I also lead a team, so mentorship plays a key role. I help team members stay on track with their assignments and ensure timely delivery of their projects.
How did you venture into Legal Operations?
Honestly, I never planned to pursue law. I originally wanted to go into engineering — specifically aeronautical engineering and explore opportunities in the defense sector. But due to various reasons, including not being up to the mark, I ended up appearing for multiple entrance exams, law being one of them. Interestingly, I scored the highest (though still a modest rank) in law, and that’s how I ended up in law school in Delhi.
Growing up, what were your passions or interests?
Two things I’ve always been passionate about are music and sports. I’ve learned a bit of music, though I never pursued it seriously, but it remains a strong interest. On the sports front, I’ve represented both my school and college in volleyball, and more recently, I’ve been playing a lot of table tennis at work.
What inherent qualities help you thrive in your everyday role as an Associate Manager in Legal Operations?
There are a few qualities I believe are essential for someone in a leadership role. One of them is the ability to build strong rapport with team members. I genuinely believe in a strengths-based approach to management. I enjoy leading both people and projects.
I like to understand the strengths and weaknesses of my team and then assign projects accordingly. That allows me to organize work in a more streamlined and accessible way. I find a lot of fulfillment in mentoring, guiding my team on how to approach tasks and achieve their goals. I enjoy organizing, managing, and shaping things in a way that makes the bigger picture easier to understand.
Is SpotDraft a high-performance environment? How do you unwind?
Initially, I didn’t really make time to unwind. For the first three years, I was pretty much always working, day and night, and didn’t give enough attention to my personal life. The only break I took was a week in December, when I’d head to the mountains and relax.
Now, things are more balanced. I take regular breaks at the office by playing table tennis and talking to people, and at home by engaging in household activities.
I’m not an avid traveler, but for the past three years, I’ve made it a point to travel once a year, usually to Manali, Himachal Pradesh.

How did you plan your growth at SpotDraft?
I started as an associate contractor at SpotDraft around four years ago. Today, I’m an Associate Manager. To be honest, I never had a detailed growth plan in place. I focused on my tasks, stayed curious, and tried to understand the business from both a management and client perspective.
Over time, I developed an interest in the product as well, how it functions, how it helps clients, and that curiosity naturally led me to different responsibilities. Eventually, that progression helped me climb the ladder and grow into the role I’m in today.
What sets SpotDraft apart from other places you’ve worked?
Before SpotDraft, I worked briefly as an independent lawyer under a senior advocate, and then at a non-profit organization, in Delhi. My time at both places was relatively short.
When I joined SpotDraft, the company had around 60–70 people. Seeing how it has grown since then has been really fulfilling. I deeply admire the culture our founders have created, especially their focus on innovation and team-building. Their approach is something every organization should aspire to.
Working with colleagues from various teams and learning from their expertise has contributed immensely to my own professional development. That collaborative spirit and growth mindset truly set SpotDraft apart from other places.
What advice would you give to those starting out in Legal Operations?
My biggest advice would be to stay proactive and adaptable. There’s a constant need to learn and evolve — so curiosity is key. You can’t afford to be complacent or confine yourself to predefined roles and tasks. You need to approach challenges from different perspectives and stay open to new ways of thinking. Being proactive and adaptable will help you grow and thrive here.
Having been at SpotDraft for a few years, how have you seen the company evolve?
SpotDraft has built a culture of recognizing and appreciating the hard work of its employees. That kind of recognition really matters and sets a strong foundation for long-term growth.
As companies scale, these values often take a back seat, but SpotDraft has done a great job of keeping them alive. I genuinely hope that continues, even as we grow bigger. Recognizing people’s efforts and contributions is something SpotDraft does exceptionally well, and I’d love to see that remain a core part of our identity.
